Here’s your weekly recap—the most viewed news stories on our site for the week ended January 29, 2022.

Last week was filled with disappointments and tragedies in the beauty industry. The biggest story was the announcement that beauty brand Glossier is laying off over 80 employees, or about one third of its corporate workforce.

In other news, BH Cosmetics, which created cosmetics formulas for Doja Cat and Iggy Azalea, filed for bankruptcy. The company said it will sell its intellectual property for $4.3 million.

In a tragic turn of events, French actor Gaspard Ulliel died at the age of 37 after a skiing accident. Ulliel was known for having portrayed the young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising (2007) and fashion mogul Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic Saint Laurent (2014), and for being the face of the Chanel men’s fragrance Bleu de Chanel.
